BBS Mall distributes food items to Kamukunji residents affected by floods

In a display of charity and corporate social responsibility, Business Bay Square Mall distributed over 25,000 kilograms of assorted food items to residents of Kamukunji affected by the recent floods.

Residents whose structures and buildings were demolished due to their proximity to the river also benefited.

Hundreds of residents from informal settlements like Kinyago, Kiambiu, Kanuku, and Kitui benefited, each receiving 5 kilograms of sugar, rice, and flour and five liters of vegetable cooking oil, among other items.

Dalmar Abdi, the Head of Marketing and Communication Officer of BBS Mall, emphasised that recipients were carefully verified to ensure assistance reached those in need.

“During these challenging times, compassion and generosity are crucial. BBS Mall stands in solidarity with the people of Kamukunji,” said Dalmar Abdi.

Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan, attending the event, offered apologies for the challenges brought by the floods.

“I apologise for the hardships you have endured. I am deeply troubled by the rains and floods,” said the MP.

California Ward representative Hashim Kamau expressed gratitude, noting the abundance of food provided. He thanked BBS Mall for its support during this difficult period.

“In yet another drive distributing food and other necessities to those affected by the recent floods, my special thanks go to BBS for sponsoring this noble course,” said Hashim.

The distribution of food and other essentials provided much-needed relief to the residents of Kamukunji, offering a glimmer of hope during challenging times.

It is not the first time the mall has engaged in such Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

In December, the mall dug a borehole for Eastleigh Boys High School. With a population of over 1100 students, the borehole ended the water struggle the students faced.
